You’re in the right place…
Do you love playing the piano but struggle with what to learn and play? Did you stop learning the piano and regret it because you were not happy with your teacher at the time and what you were learning? Are you sick of playing only classical piano? Do you want to play something different on the piano like chords, rock songs, or learn how to accompany yourself on piano while you sing, play by ear, but don’t know how? Did you stop playing the piano because you could not find the right teacher? Do you regret stopping playing piano and wish you could start back again? Maybe you just want to learn blues and jazz or something different on the piano?
Let’s get started!
Look no further! I’m so happy for you that you have found this site. I am going to help you! I am going to be giving away a lot of tips and tricks I have picked up over the years working as a professional teacher and performer that will help you look at the piano in a new way.
I’m going to bring to you my 25 years’ experience teaching around the world at various music schools and universities. I’ll be creating a series of short videos for you on specific topics that have come up repeatedly during my time teaching… plus you can ask me to create videos on topics you are interested in through your comments and emails.
The site is designed for the piano but, in fact, the site is for anyone who would like to understand music theory, no matter what your instrument. The site is not for complete beginners but rather it is for people who can read a little music, ideally 3rd Grade & higher. Students of all ages are welcome!
A little about me…
I am an Australian professional Jazz pianist/composer/educator with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance from the Australian National University. I’ve been educating around the world for 25 years at various universities, performing at festivals such as the Berlin Jazz Festival, Barbican (UK) and in major venues in cities such as New York, Dublin, Sydney, London and Paris.
Learning music and the piano can be difficult. I started off at the beginning like everyone else – I remember struggling my way through Howard Kasschau’s Piano Course! I always said to myself that if I reached a professional level on the piano I would help make learning the piano easier and never hold back on tips, tricks and ‘trade secrets’!
I believe music should be FUN! One of my pleasures in life is seeing how much music helps my students and the joy it brings. This is what drives me.
